Actual Demolition

So smooth, a little damage to the cross-over when the digger came in, but just look at the result.  The guys were very careful and thorough, and the end result speaks for itself.  I would happily recommend this company to anyone who wants a clean demolition.  I figure I owe M on the digger a slab or two

  1. Hi -enjoying your blog so far. We are getting close to a tender with CG, so will be watching closely :)

Can you explain if the demolition company also removes the underground services (stormwater pipes, sewer connections etc), or does this have to be done by different contractors prior to (or after) the demolition?

    Cheers,

  2. Hi Tony,

They cleaned everything out to a depth of 1/2 metre (seemed deeper to me). Sewage and storm water pipes were ripped out, but anything below that depth was left. The thing to watch is sewer capping, talk to yarra valley (or who ever is your water authority) about what needs to be done about capping the sewer, that will be extra if required, and it stops mud and junk polluting the sewer system - which could make the authority quite irate if not performed. As to the water, I just turned it off at the meter, and they ripped out the pipes. I was advised to take the meter as it was likely to get ripped off. The site has been secured now - so I will see about putting it back.

    Cheers

    1. Thanks James and Alison,

That's kind of what I was expecting, so I'll be sure to get YVW's advice before engaging the demo company.

Thanks for the tip about the meter - will do the same if possible.

      Cheers,
