Permits

You need to abolish existing services such as Telephone, internet, power, gas

Then find out if you are in a flood area, tree protection area, heritage protection area, colour protection area, character protection area, etc.  and then get all the permits, or find out what permits your builder will get and what you have to get.

A good builder will get the Asset Protection permit, but I haven't dealt with such a company and have to do this myself, which is a pain to me and the council.

Getting the permit is fairly easy, but I found it involved phone calls, emails, faxes and a couple of thousand dollars.  The idea of the permit is to protect council assets such as the footpath and pay to fix any repais that become necessary due to damage while building.  For me that involved taking some photos.

Wreckers will start Tuesday 12th February, so I have taken some photos of the footpath for the asset protection permit. The existing damage will need to be compared to the future damage after construction.  Council have asked for about $2K deposit, and Carter Grange will cover us for $1K for each damaged square
